Payload and Mission Operations Project Coordinator


We are seeking highly motivated, talented candidates to join our staff! The Payload and Mission Operations Division (PMOD) Project Coordinator (PC) will support NASA under the MIPSS Contract and will be located at Marshall Space Flight Center supporting the management team with project coordination, integration, meeting support, reporting and research functions. Specific skills and responsibilities shall include, but not limited to:

  • Provide vertical and horizontal integration and coordinating activities to include logistics, planning, and reporting across the PMOD, and their sponsoring programs including ISS, SLS and AES.
  • Develop lists, reports, and charts for the overall management and integration of the organization to include organization charts, team lists, and roles and responsibilities matrices.
  • Capture and track action item status and ensure on-time closure
  • Capture, integrate and maintain weekly program planning summary inputs
  • Generate weekly and monthly PMOD staff charts and standup notes for the PMOD and supported projects
  • As required, organize special on-site and off-site technically-oriented meetings, programmatic reviews, working groups, panels and boards. This may include facilitating the contract of external venues in compliance with regulations identified in NPR 9700.1A, to identify best value to the government.
  • Coordinate Audio/Video presentations for special events along with real-time meeting support for PMOD management. This activity includes supporting PMOD meetings by reserving facilities, setting up equipment, and operating conference room equipment as required.
  • Establish and maintain the PMOD calendars
  • Establish and verify security permissions, load data, and set up and organize folders/files for PMOD websites and databases (including SharePoint sites and team Wiki's)
  • Maintain PMOD access lists for access to outside databases, including outside programs and contractor sites. Ensure training and security requirements are met by the individual users.
  • Provide SharePoint user support, project page design and layout inputs and file structure, as needed.



  • B.S. degree from an accredited institution and minimum 10 years' experience; prior NASA or government project experience with focus in program / project office is desired
  • Experience with NASA tools such as ICE, WindChill, CAITS, etc. is desired
  • Experience with Microsoft (MS) Office products including SharePoint is desired
  • Experience with event coordination / planning is required
  • Knowledge of NASA Policy and Procedures is desired
  • Must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of an organization
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation


Essential Functions

  • Work Environment- Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Physical Requirements- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Equipment and Machines- Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
  • Attendance- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Other Essential Functions- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
