We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager for On-Orbit GN&C and Flight Mechanics to join our team with JETS II Teammate Company, Nexus Solutions.

The On-Orbit GN&C and Flight Mechanics Section Manager will:

  • Be responsible for the direct management of aerospace and software engineers with widely varying skillsets supporting the NASA JSC Aeroscience & Flight Mechanics Division (EG)
  • Report directly to the Spacecraft Analysis, Software, & Services Group Manager
  • Provide guidance and oversight of engineering products and services
  • Maintain familiarity with and provide guidance on NASA engineering requirements and work instructions
  • Perform recruiting activities to bring personnel with required skills and expertise on contract
  • Manage, review, and report on all aspects of performance (technical, cost, schedule, risk) for projects managed by or staffed by the section
  • Manage and encourage personnel performance and growth
  • Coordinate issues across multiple tasks which could include source limitations, technical challenges, process breakdowns, etc.
  • Establish a framework and oversight for technical correctness on all work performed by section
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience
  • Experience with orbital mechanics, spacecraft trajectories or spacecraft rendezvous
  • Experience managing a team of up to 30 personnel with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience negotiating customer and stakeholder requirements and managing customer expectations
  • Project management experience (technical, cost, and schedule performance; risk management)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a history of effectively interacting with senior managers at all levels
  • Must be proactive, responsive and show great initiative

Requisition Preferences:

  • Significant spacecraft GN&C engineering experience
  • Significant direct project development experience with NASA
  • Experience with spacecraft modeling and simulation; trajectory analysis
  • Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GNC hardware and software
  • Experience with NASA flight operations and procedures
  • Experience with high performance computing systems
  • Experience in developing schedules, budgets, and project plans
  • Experience with task order contracts
