We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Control Coordinator to join our team with the Facilities and Testing Division.

The Production Coordinator will:​

  • ​Maintain shop production schedule (by job, machine, work center, etc.) in scheduling tool
  • Develop and manage production schedule at the job level at work centers to maximize overall manufacturing and precision cleaning throughput
  • Review, plan, and coordinate the efficient execution of manufacturing work requests using ERP/MRP system/software
  • Daily review and adjustment of hardware development schedules and workflow within the various work centers to meet current shop priorities
  • Develop job kits to full-kit level including material, consumables, and documentation
  • Obtain customer feedback and use to improve customer service, processes, and procedures
  • Serve as clean room primary customer interface working with each customer, engineers, project managers, floor supervisor and section managers on cost and schedule to understand their requirements, drivers, and timelines
  • Track cost and schedule for cleanroom projects, provide thorough status reports to customers and provide follow-up support on questions and concerns
  • Draft weekly Jobs Status reports
  • Develop and implement solutions to engineering and fabrication challenges
  • Ensure a safe, well-maintained shop is available for fabrication and cleaning of both flight and non-flight hardware.
  • Verify that optimum quality is achieved in all deliverables
  • Perform other duties as required​

Qualifications

Requisition Qualifications:

  • ​Typically requires a HS diploma and 10 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field and 5 years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written presentation skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in leading and managing a high performing team
  • Effectively manage and prioritize responsibilities for multiple projects with overlapping schedule demands
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining (manual, CNC mill and lathe, multi-axis, and electric discharge machining), sheet metal fabrication, welding, composites manufacturing, cleaning, and hardware assembly
  • Working knowledge of the manufacturing and physical characteristics of metals, plastics, composites, and fibrous materials
  • Proficiency in reading and explaining engineering drawings, manuals, and specifications, and performing the required operations based on those drawings and documents, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Understanding of various in-process dimensional inspection methods and techniques using standard machine shop measuring gauges and instruments, including Micrometers, Gauges and Calipers
  • Strong computer skills and experience in utilizing software tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Office, Outlook, and Project
  • Knowledge of cleanroom processes and procedures
  • Able to make independent, technical, and tactical decisions​

Requisition Preferences:

  • ​A working knowledge of the NASA/JSC drawing system JSC 8500, the Engineering Drawing Control Center (EDCC) and Design and Data Management System (DDMS)
  • Familiarity of quality procedures and documentation for aerospace flight Hardware, including material test reports, certificates of compliance, and heat treat and other quality records​
